Hooperites, your illustrious mayor has discovered the goose that lays golden eggs and he didn't have to climb the beanstock. He only has to drive to Slaterville and sit in with the sewer lords at their monthly get-together. He doesn't need to do anything or know anything. He doesn't even need to bring his rubber stamp. All he has to do is take up space and say "aye" when he's supposed to.
After a short time, he drives home with a pocket full of money and all he can eat. Wow! What a bonanza and he does it every month. Very few Hooper people know this and he's not going to advertise. It takes about eight sewer-user fees to pay for his pot of gold, not counting all he can eat and drink. Nice little party, huh?
We people on fixed incomes who have not had a cost of living raise for two years and are promised we won't get one next year either, are helping to pay for all this fun.
Next time they raise our flushing fees, think about the mayor, over there feeding his face and filling his pockets!
Many people are struggling to pay their flushing fee, and I think the mayor, being the good politician that he is, extorts our money and does nothing.
It makes a body wonder if the mayor rammed this $18.5 million-dollar, 900 hook-up, high maintenance, power-hungry sewer that sucks down our throats with no vote so he could get on the gravy train.
I believe we are being preyed upon, and the sad thing is, we don't have the power to do anything about it. The bureaucrats win again.
We need to be more selective when we vote. We need to elect people who will fight against this type of plunder.
