I sent a letter to the governor concerning the balancing the the budget and regarding a lottery for Utah. He stated that my comments reflected insight and lengthy consideraton on the matter. He recommended I contact my elected rrepresentatative and senator to see if they are willing to sponsor legislation regarding the matter. The following is what was sent to the governor and the Utah congressmen: "Millions of dollars are going out of state to surrounding states such as Wendover and Mesquite, Nevada; Malad and Franklin, Idaho; and Wyoming (horse racing). In Franklin, there is sign: "Home of the Utah lottery."
If Utah had a lottery, the funds could help the budget so education and other projects would not be cut. I wrote to Stuart J. Adams, Roger E. Barnes, Curtis Oda and Paul Ray in April of 2011. I have not received a reply from any of them. Perhaps it is because it was no typewritten. My typewriter is not operable right now, however, I printed my request so they could read my recommendation.
Now, some of our legislators are taking a junket to Hawaii at the expense of the population of Utah. Why?
The tax increases initiated by our state congress are getting out of hand and putting a large burden on the population of Utah.
