OGDEN NATURE CENTER

Wild Wednesdays: Weekly series at 3:30 p.m. Today's topic is "In Honor: A Special Veterans Day Program." Help us celebrate Veterans Day as we discuss the history of this special holiday. Our resident bald eagle Des Ta Te will be on hand as well as we honor our veterans. Meet in the Visitor's Center. $4 for adults, $3 for seniors over 65, and $2 for children. Members and children under 2 years old are free. Reservations are not required. To register, call (801) 621-7595.

Preschool Discovery Days: "Animals and Plants Prepare for Winter." Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Also offered at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 25. Preschoolers ages 3-5 will migrate through nature in autumn to find out how our feathered friends generate energy during the cold winter months. Birds are not the only things in nature that go through changes in preparation for winter and a hike to the bear den will help your preschooler understand hibernation. Stories, songs and a craft will all be included as your preschooler finds out why trees lose their leaves in the winter.

Wasatch Audubon Monthly Program: 7-9 p.m. Nov. 17. The United States is currently attempting to develop and increase the use of alternate energy sources to help slow global warming. Audubon applauds the effort, but it is important that we all understand that there may be unforeseen consequences to some of these efforts. Caroline Goldman, executive director of Hawk Watch International, will present "Wind Power and Birds" to help us better understand one of these new power sources.

If it has been snowing, be prepared to snowshoe; if the trail is dry or well-packed; we will hike.
