Solution proposed for on-street parking problems at Mount Ogden Park

OGDEN -- The city has proposed a solution for on-street parking problem at Mount Ogden Park and nearby residents are hoping it will work.

Riverdale committee urges no-parking zone near splash pad

RIVERDALE — The city’s Risk Management Committee has recommended a no-parking zone on the west side of Parker Drive around Riverdale Park.

Although parking is limited on the north side of the park near the more attractive features such as the splash pad, large pavilion and playground, plenty of parking is available at the Riverdale Community Center and Riverdale Elementary School, the committee said.

LAYTON — With about 1,700 students sharing one lunch period, Layton High School, thanks in part to a $23 million two-phase construction upgrade, has a new cafeteria and commons area that allows them to eat and meet together.

Ogden administration presents five-year plan

OGDEN — The Ogden city administration presented the next five years of proposed capital improvements to the city council Tuesday night.

Each year, a five-year capital improvement plan is developed by the administration and presented to the council for review and recommendation.

The plan determines what projects will be funded in the next year’s budget and develops a five-year action plan for other projects that are needed but not yet funded.

City vacates land for home expansion, but move causes concern

OGDEN -- The city's vacating of a portion of Buchanan Avenue has a nearby landowner worried about parking at a popular nearby trailhead.

7th Street in Ogden open to vehicle traffic

OGDEN -- A $2.7 million project to improve a two-block section of 7th Street is nearly complete. The only work left on the project, which extends about 1,500 feet between Adams and Liberty avenues, is the planting of landscaping and the completion of road striping.

Winter parking guidelines in effect in Syracuse

SYRACUSE -- Winter parking guidelines go into effect in this city as of Tuesday.

The guidelines limit parking of any kind of vehicle on city streets from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Tuesday to March 15 on any day it snows or snow is forecast.

Police Chief Brian Wallace said the intent of the rule is to clear streets for snow removal and that police cite violations only in times of a storm.

Clearfield ordinance changes target potentially dangerous headlight glare

CLEARFIELD -- Safety is expected to improve for drivers as officials adopt changes that specify appropriate landscaping that helps buffer headlight glare.

City Manager Adam Lenhard said the city was recently updating its ordinance for parking areas. He explained that when people are turning into a stall that faces a right of way or a roadway, there could be a headlight glare, especially at night, that causes safety concerns for drivers.

WSU Davis students face parking woes

LAYTON -- Spending too much time finding an empty parking space Monday or Tuesday nights at the Weber State University Davis campus is causing several students to be late for class.

'No Temple Parking' signs to be installed on Bountiful Blvd.

BOUNTIFUL -- City officials have approved placing new parking signs in front of the LDS Temple on Bountiful Boulevard in hopes the signs will help alleviate a parking problem for neighbors in the area.

OGDEN -- The Weber County Commission is updating the home-occupation ordinance to clarify the code.

Clearfield High parking lot gets upgrade

CLEARFIELD -- Parking lots at high schools are no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
