Plain City cleanup day announced

PLAIN CITY -- The City Spring Clean Up Day will be held on Saturday, May 4.

Plain City to get new tables, bike racks

PLAIN CITY -- Council members gave final approval to Winter’s Subdivision, located at approximately 2275 North 4350 West.

In other city news, council members agreed to purchase tables for city parks, spending approximately $5,000 of municipal RAMP grant funds. In addition to new tables, the parks will also be receiving a new bike rack at each park courtesy of Tyler Sparks who is installing the racks as part of his Eagle Scout Project.

Plain City cleanup day scheduled

PLAIN CITY -- Councilman Joel Maw recently requested suggestions for projects from the community for a city cleanup day, to be held May 1.

Any residents with cleanup ideas are encouraged to contact city offices at 801-731-4908.

Appointments set by Weber County

OGDEN -- The Board of Commissioners of Weber County recently approved the appointment of three residents to Plain City Cemetery Maintenance District.

The appointments included the return of Joel Freestone and Brent White, as well as the new appointment of Ross Taylor.

Plain City sewer treatment station needs work

PLAIN CITY -- The sewer treatment facility and a pump station still need done work, according to Councilman Brent White.

“Don (Weston) has been working on the sewer treatment needs on a regular basis,” said White.

He said some of the improvements will soon be complete which will keep the sewer system running. The city’s sewer system has undergone many changes and improvements during the past several years, including the installation of a new way to treat waste with a Poo-Gloo system.

Scout wants to replace Plain City sign

PLAIN CITY -- Working on an Eagle Scout Project, Kevin Kilts has been raising donations to replace the sign in front of the Plain City Fire Department.

The city agreed to provide up to $500 toward the project. In place of a sign, an engraved rock is planned for the fire department.

Vendor booths available for Harvest Arts Festival in Plain City

PLAIN CITY — The Harvest Arts Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at Town Square, 2350 N. 4425 West.

Money approved for Plain City sewer project

PLAIN CITY -- A sewer project, being worked on predominantly by city employees, was approved by council members for $30,000.

City employee Don Weston said he has already been building forms and can also build the aerators, completing about 50 in one week. There are 200 aerators in all that will be needed.

Mayor Jay Jenkins said the project is being done with city supplies and the man power used from city employees will be a saving for the city.

Plain City officials contemplate a future sewer rate increase

PLAIN CITY -- Sewer costs have risen over the years for the city but not for residents, Councilman Brent White said recently.

Plain City to study costs of sewer, storm drain plans

PLAIN CITY — Council members approved a study for the sewer and storm drain master plan following a public hearing on the issue.

The city will spend approximately $14,000 to pay for the storm portion of the study and $16,000 for the sewer collections and treatments portion of the study.

Plain City commission seeks new member

An alternate member is needed for the planning commission according to city recorder Diane Hirschi. Those interested can contact the city offices at 801-731-4908.

Plain City seeks bids for pump installation

PLAIN CITY -- Council members have agreed to put out to bid the installation of pumps for lift station No. 9 on 1975 North.

Councilman Brent White said the city has funds for the project in the sewer capital facilities fund. Besides changing the pumps, the project will include doing work on some manholes.

Plain City plans water-sewer study

PLAIN CITY — Council members have agreed to begin the process for an amendment to the capital facilities plan so the city can have a combined study of the sewer and the storm sewer.

“The current study we have is 15 years old on both systems,” said Councilman Brent White, adding it would benefit the city to combine the studies.

“That’s why we’re doing this study,” said Councilman Bruce Higley. “It’s so far back.”

Plain City Founders Day tickets on sale

PLAIN CITY -- Plain City Founders Day will be celebrated March 31 at Fremont High School with a social hour and town displays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Plain City's Got Talent Show from 11 a.m. to noon and a dinner from noon to 1 p.m.

Plain City accepts Four Mile Creek Estates

PLAIN CITY -- Final acceptance of Four Mile Creek Estates was given unanimously by council members.

In other city business, a public hearing concerning the sensitive land use ordinance is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 15 during the regularly scheduled council meeting at City Hall, 4160 W. 2200 North.
