Services set for rangers killed in Utah plane crash

PAGE, Ariz. -- A memorial service is planned for Thursday for two National Park Service rangers who died in a weekend plane crash in southern Utah.

The service will be held in Page, Ariz., for 49-year-old Brent McGinn and 41-year-old Laurie Axelsen. They were on their way back to Page from Bryce Canyon in Utah after scouting elk hunting sites when the Cessna Axelsen was piloting crashed into a forest.

Both were assigned to the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area along the Arizona-Utah border, where McGinn was the chief law enforcement officer and Axelsen was a district law officer.

McGinn was originally from Duluth, Minn., and Axelsen was from Great Falls, Mont.

The service will be held at 10 a.m., but an exact location in Page has not been announced.
