New Arizona law bars public funds from Planned Parenthood

PHOENIX -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a bill barring any public money -- city, county or state -- from going to Planned Parenthood, a decision that she says closes loopholes for funding abortions.

WASHINGTON -- A coordinated attack by Democrats on Mitt Romney's plan to "get rid of" Planned Parenthood to help balance the federal budget is part of a larger campaign to ensure that Romney and other Republicans lose credibility with female voters.

Utah bill on abortion waiting period clears hurdle

Komen reverses decision to cut Planned Parenthood funding

In a reversal of policy after a nationwide uproar over its decision to cut funding to Planned Parenthood, Susan G. Komen for the Cure said Friday that it will amend its new funding rules and allow continued funding of breast health programs operated by the clinic.

'Historic' deal averts government shutdown

WASHINGTON — Perilously close to a government shutdown, President Barack Obama and congressional leaders reached a historic agreement late Friday night to cut about $38 billion in spending and avert the first federal closure in 15 years.
