Pleasant View sets public hearing on fund transfer

PLEASANT VIEW — The Pleasant View City Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. June 12 at the city office, 520 W. Elberta Drive, to consider a $200,000 fund transfer from the solid waste fund to the water fund for the 2012-13 fiscal year budget.

Some worry about safety where path meets street in Pleasant View

PLEASANT VIEW — Concerns about children’s safety have surfaced regarding the way a walking path ends on Pleasant View Drive.

Two former council members, Mae Ferguson and Tim Hjorten, recently brought pictures to city officials to illustrate their concerns.

Pleasant View council OKs spring cleanup vouchers for green waste facility

PLEASANT VIEW — The city council has decided to provide vouchers for residents to use at the Weber County green waste facility.

In previous years, Pleasant View has had a spring cleanup service, with city employees using city trucks to pick up green waste from the curb. Last year, the council did away with that project because of problems, including improper items left out for pickup and the time city employees spent searching for the green waste throughout Pleasant View.

Pleasant View street project moving forward

PLEASANT VIEW -- The street project on 600 West will move forward, according to City Administrator Melinda Brimhall, who said the city representatives plan to meet soon with property owners.

“We are trying to preserve trees and minimize the impact on property owners,” said Brimhall. “The road will meander back and forth as much as it can, to minimize the impact on individual property owners.”

Brimhall said the city wants to initiate dialog with property owners and survey crews have been out surveying the land.

Pleasant View concession stand almost ready to go

PLEASANT VIEW — The concession stand at Pleasant View Park will be ready for use as soon as the refrigerator arrives.

The unit is being donated by Admiral Beverage, said Mayor Doug Clifford.

He said the concession stand will be run only by the Pleasant View Recreation Department and will not be open to other vendors.

Clifford said only food and beverages that do not require a food-handling permit will be sold.

He said the city may talk to Straw Market about offering hot foods during games in the park.

Pleasant View plans donation to graduation party

PLEASANT VIEW — The city council has approved up to $500 in funding for the Weber High School alcohol- and drug-free senior party at Toad’s Fun Zone. The donation will depend on the amount left in the police department budget.

PLEASANT VIEW -- The city has hired a new chief administrator.

PLEASANT VIEW -- The turnout of residents wanting to serve on the planning commission was "unbelievable," Mayor Doug Clifford said.

New members to join Pleasant View city council

There are new faces on the city council as three new council members were sworn in recently. Jerold Burns, Mel Marker and Toby Mileski are now on the city council.

Mayor Doug Clifford thanked outgoing council members Tim Hjorten, Mae Ferguson and Todd Walker for their service to the city.

“I appreciate the time that I had serving on the city council,” said Ferguson. She served for six years and said the city staff and office employees had been so good to work with. She said she hoped the new council members would enjoy being on the city council as she had. Ferguson also made one request, that the walking path be completed with benches and trees.

Walker also said he had enjoyed serving on the council and said Pleasant View was a great city to live in. Hjorten was not present in the meeting.

Pleasant View councilman opposes giving park land to fire district

PLEASANT VIEW -- Some council members and Mayor Doug Clifford would like to see one acre of land in Wadman Nature Park go to the North View Fire District.

The council recently discussed plans to work out a sale for $1 or a possible trade for a road the fire district would be responsible for installing that would run from east to west.

The acre of property and the rest of Wadman Nature Park was donated to the city by the Wadman family. Councilman Todd Walker, whose term ends Jan. 1, voiced strong opposition to the plan.

Pleasant View looks at excess funds

PLEASANT VIEW -- With an excess in the city's general fund of approximately $135,000, the fiscal year budget for 2011-12 was amended, with council members voting to move $45,400 into the roads and sidewalk fund, and $6,500 into the equipment and fleet project fund to pay for radar equipment for the police department.

Pleasant View to replace two radar units for patrol cars

PLEASANT VIEW -- The radar units in five police patrol cars need replacing, Police Chief Scott Jackson said, but the city council has money for only two now and will look at replacing the others in the future.

Fire district substation plans discussed in Pleasant View

PLEASANT VIEW -- A fire station on 4300 North would quicken response times in a fast-growing residential part of town, North View Fire District Chief Lynn Froerer told the city council recently.

Harris Hills subdivision given preliminary approval

PLEASANT VIEW -- Harris Hills subdivision was recently given preliminary approval by the city council, which also approved the exchange of property connected with the subdivision.
