Mild winter leaves Top of Utah with piles of salt and money

The snowplows have been sitting idle most of the winter in the Top of Utah, thanks to the mild weather and relative lack of snow.

Now, municipalities find themselves with piles of road salt and money left in their budget.

Fruit Heights’ four snowplows have only had to plow twice and been out another couple of times salting city roads. The city normally uses nearly 1,000 tons of salt each winter, but this year has gone through only 320 tons, according to Fruit Heights Public Works Street Supervisor Dan Green.

Despite changes, UDOT to still plow ski resort roads

OGDEN -- The Utah Department of Transportation has changed its policy on plowing snow on roads leading to ski areas.

But don't worry, local resorts are still going to have clear roads.

Residents complain of plowing in North Ogden

NORTH OGDEN — Residents are questioning what the problem is with plowing snow in the city and were told it is directly related to an inadequate public works facility.
