Cyanide deaths gruesome but rare

John Trestrail, a pharmacist who specializes in studying criminal poisoning cases, said that in his database of known poisoning homicides, cyanide made up only 8 percent of the cases, and that over a 20-year period in the United States, all types of poisoning comprised less than two-tenths of 1 percent of total homicides.

CHICAGO — The wife of a Chicago lottery winner who was poisoned with cyanide says his death devastated her and she doesn’t believe he had any enemies.

CASPER, Wyo. -- Alexis Jennings had a serious reason to keep her stepmother quiet, officials say.

Jennings had confided in the woman that she had previously molested a young girl, a deputy said at her Tuesday hearing in Natrona County Circuit Court. Because the stepmother had, in turn, revealed her secret, officials say Jennings wanted her “gone.”

It is with the most profound sincerity that I acknowledge responsibility for the events that transpired both on, and in the immediate aftermath of, February 5th, 2010.

As an employee of Bugman Pest and Lawn, I was asked to again return to the home of Brenda and Nathan Toone to address a recurring vole infestation that I had treated two months prior.

Nearly two years have passed since we invited Mr. Nocks, a pesticide professional, to eliminate a health hazard at our home. Mr. Nocks' tragic ignorance, laziness and carelessness for the lives of others created a far more deadly hazard.

Mr. Nocks was a licensed professional, and as such, he had a responsibility to ensure the safety of his clients. In that responsibility, he failed.
