 OGDEN — A man used his vehicle to ram a Weber County deputy’s patrol car during a chase Thursday afternoon before being arrested after his tire was shot out near the mouth of Ogden Canyon.

Burglary suspect destroys Layton family’s surprise

LAYTON -- Jerson Barreda and his siblings planned a surprise party, complete with decorations, for their mother, who was coming home from the hospital with their new baby sister.

Instead, they were surprised to find a man in their apartment Thursday afternoon.

Jerson, 12, a seventh-grader at North Layton Junior High School, his 17-year-old sister and their younger brother and sister, pulled into the parking lot at Layton Meadows Apartments, 540 W. 1425 North, and saw policemen in the area.

Police led on slow-speed chase through Davis/Weber counties

CLINTON — Two men are facing charges after leading police on a slow-speed chase through three cities and two counties.

Clinton police booked John C. Randall, 28, of Clinton, and Jordan Daniel Myers, 36, of Brigham City, into Davis County Jail on no bail Monday night following a 15-minute chase.

Police Chief Bill Chilson said a Clinton police officer spotted a car driving erratically near 500 W. 2300 North at 10 p.m. Monday.

Driver apparently commits suicide after police chase in N. Ogden

NORTH OGDEN — A driver apparently shot and killed himself after a chase with North Ogden police.

Police pulled over the suspect, who had warrants out for his arrest, in the parking lot of Bicentennial Park near 2650 N. 400 East about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. He gave officers a false name and took off in his sport utility vehicle, said North Ogden Detective Paul Rhoades in a news release.

The suspect drove his SUV over the curb and through the park.

Ogden officer shoots at robbery suspect, is on paid leave

OGDEN — An Ogden police officer is on paid administrative leave after firing at a robbery suspect.

Police believe Noe Gonzalez, 20, was robbing someone who had been walking down the sidewalk on the 2200 block of Monroe Boulevard about 12:35 a.m. Thursday.

Officers arrived on the scene to see the suspect get into the passenger seat of a vehicle that took off, said Ogden Police Lt. Tony Fox.

OGDEN — Three suspects are in custody and another remains at large following a Thursday morning burglary and an ensuing police manhunt.

At 7:40 a.m., a witness observed four males removing items from a home in the area of 200 Ogden Canyon Road and placing them into a green Jeep Cherokee, said Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Lowther.

9-hour I-15 standoff ends when man surrenders

ST. GEORGE, Utah — A man involved in a nine-hour standoff that shut down Interstate 15 in Utah was trying to keep his children from returning to their mother’s custody in California, police said.

Police say James Jerry Moncada caused this damage while fleeing police Thursday in Ogden. An officer believed he recognized the driver of an SUV and attempted to pull over the vehicle. However, the driver did not stop and drove south down an alley that runs from 28th Street to 29th Street, between Brinker Avenue and Harrison Boulevard. The SUV smashed through a fence about halfway down the alley, drove through the southeast corner of a backyard, smashed through a second wooden fence and wound up in the backyard of a home that is south of the first. OGDEN -- Police arrested a man after he led them on a chase through an Ogden neighborhood Thursday night.
