CLEARFIELD — The Falcons remain perfect from a lofty perch in their new nest.

CHICAGO -- In an attempt to recover $104 million, federal authorities have sued former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon and eight others involved in a now-failed bank that was at the center of the campaign for President Obama's old U.S. Senate seat.

Jacob Rainey is inspiring people all across the sports world.

The Virginia prep quarterback who had to have part of his right leg amputated has moved the likes of Alabama coach Nick Saban, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews and Denver quarterback Tim Tebow.

A highlight film of Rainey on YouTube shows why college coaches had taken notice. It shows the once-promising quarterback at Woodberry Forest School throwing a 40-yard dart for a touchdown, running into the line on a quarterback sneak, then emerging from the pile and sprinting 40 yards for a TD. There is also of clip of him running a draw for another 35-yard score.

All that was taken away, without warning when he was tackled during a scrimmage on Sept. 3. He suffered a severe knee injury and a severed artery and part of his right leg had to be amputated.

Now it's his courage that has people taking notice.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah's chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union is asking the Duchesne County Attorney for an independent investigation after police used pepper spray and batons on a group of dancers at a high school football game in Roosevelt.

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- An outside investigator has been hired to look into allegations that Great Falls High faculty knew about hazing in the football locker room but failed to stop it.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Fremont High recorded a thrilling 21-14 overtime win over rival Syracuse on Friday in the state 5-A football semifinals at Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The Silver Wolves (10-2) will play the winner of this afternoon's Lone Peak-Jordan contest for the state title next Friday.

Syracuse tied the game with six minutes to play in regulation.

In overtime, Fremont's Nick Vigil ran the ball four straight times. On the fifth play, he tossed a TD pass to Rowdy Stucki.

The Fremont defense then held Syracuse out of the end zone -- barely -- to secure the victory. On the game's final play, Syracuse receiver Logan Chapman caught a pass and stretched the ball toward the goal line. Officials ruled he did not break the goal.
