SANDY — Congressman Rob Bishop, R-Brigham City, did what most candidates couldn’t do Saturday at the Republican State Convention — avoid a primary decisively.

SANDY — Utah Republicans denied U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch a clear path to a seventh and final term Saturday, forcing the 78-year-old lawmaker into a June primary with 37-year-old former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist. Hatch fell short of the outright nomination by fewer than three dozen votes from the nearly 4,000 delegates at the party convention.

Challenges facing Romney in wooing female voters

Gingrich, Romney begin final pitches

WASHINGTON — Republican president hopeful Newt Gingrich doubled down on his criticism of federal judges and the Supreme Court on Sunday as chief rival Mitt Romney defended his record against likely Democratic attacks.
