Kaysville man who choked 5-year-old sentenced to 60 days in jail, probation, counseling

FARMINGTON — A judge says he is concerned about a 5-year-old boy who was choked by Dustin Harley Christensen-Day in March.

Judge David Hamilton said Wednesday he received letters from a friend of Christensen-Day and Christensen-Day’s mother, who is also the boy’s grandmother and guardian.

“They don’t seem concerned about the child. They seem to minimize what happened,” Hamilton said. “This child was choked, not once, but twice. I’m concerned about the child, and I’m concerned about you, Mr. Christensen-Day.”

Three years after killing 2 in auto homicide, woman admits to another DUI

FARMINGTON — A 31-year-old woman who had pleaded guilty three years ago to automobile homicide in connection with the deaths of two elderly Layton residents in 2008 was back in court after admitting to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Alecia Lyn Kap, of South Weber, appeared in 2nd District Court on Monday in front of Judge Michael Allphin. She is being held in Davis County Jail without bail on a hold from Adult Probation and Parole.

Kap admitted to her probation officer that she had been drinking and driving April 12 while in Wendover, Nev., said Deputy Davis County Attorney Rick Westmoreland.

Prosecutors seek $15,000 a month from 70-year-old swindler

Watts booked into jail after failing to complete pre-sentence report

FARMINGTON — Joshua Cameron Watts ended up in jail after his attorney told the judge his client did not have any transportation.

Watts, 19, of West Valley, was scheduled for a sentencing hearing Tuesday before Judge David Connors in 2nd District Court.

But because Watts had not showed up for meetings with Adult Probation and Parole to complete a court-ordered pre-sentence report, Connors did not sentence Watts on Tuesday.
