Pleasant View council discusses price of property for fire district

PLEASANT VIEW — When Wadman Nature Park was donated to the city, one acre of property was set aside for a future building for the North View Fire District, according to Mayor Doug Clifford. Now, the fire district is seeking to use impact fees it receives to build a fire station there.

He said the city is not obligated to grant the property to the fire district but can sell it to them.

“The price is to be determined between the city and the fire district,” said Clifford. “Part of the whole negotiation is to get the fire station up there by Wadman Nature Park. The fire district wants to move ahead with their impact fees. To make that realistic they need to know the cost of that property.”

Clearfield gives useless parcel to UTA

CLEARFIELD — The city council approved giving the Utah Department of Transportation a piece of property that is of no use to the city.

The city owns an insignificant piece of property, which means its value is less than $75,000, in UDOT’s right of way for State Road 126.

With the 0.4 acre property’s location, size, unusual and irregular dimensions, it has no prospect for any practical or beneficial use to the city or its residents, according to the approved resolution.

Papageorge said the property had been for sale previously, but the city turned it down because the price turned out to be too high.

Small parcel in Syracuse soon up for auction

A small parcel of property located at approximately 1700 South and 2350 West will soon be put up for auction, after the city council voted to move ahead with disposal of the property.

The council vote means city officials will have the small property appraised and then put up for public auction, according to Cassie Brown, city recorder.

A resident inquired about the small parcel, which initiated action to put it up for auction, according to Brown.
