WASHINGTON -- Activist Adam Kokesh has asked 1,000 people to march across the Potomac River on July 4 carrying loaded rifles.

He calls it a protest against “tyranny.”

Proposed gun-rights protest to include loaded rifles

WASHINGTON — An Iraq war veteran and Internet talk show host is trying to gather thousands of protesters to march into Washington on Independence Day with loaded rifles on their backs.

SEATTLE -- Police used "flash bangs" and pepper spray against some protesters who pelted them with rocks and bottles late Wednesday, as violence erupted during May Day in Seattle.

12 protest Wells Fargo practices during SLC meeting

SALT LAKE CITY — A dozen people protesting Wells Fargo’s mortgage policies disrupted a shareholders’ meeting Tuesday and one of them tried to make a citizen’s arrest of CEO John Stumpf.

Private security guards escorted away the man who tried to make the arrest, along with others who spoke out of turn, said Wells Fargo spokesman Ancel Martinez.

Police say they made no arrests in or outside the Grand America Hotel, where about 30 demonstrators lingered to air complaints about Wells Fargo’s consumer lending and mortgage practices.

KKK plans rally to promote 'white unity'

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There is a lot to be angry about if you’re in the Ku Klux Klan.

As local leader of the Loyal White Knights, Edward the Exalted Cyclops organized a barbecue last month to make plans for Saturday’s demonstration to show that white people still have rights.

'Zombie' protesters' lawsuit against utility won't die

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — It’s been more than a year since it was filed, no hearings have taken place, but the “zombie” lawsuit against the Tennessee Valley Authority is not dead.

In fact, the case is shuffling toward its first hearing. On March 12, U.S. District Judge Tena Campbell will hear a TVA motion to dismiss the case that six protesters filed against TVA for ejecting them from an authority board meeting for wearing zombie costumes.

Protesters worry corridor will hurt Farmington Bay, wildlife

FARMINGTON — Christina Roskelley loves to see the eagles nest in trees in her backyard near Farmington Bay but is afraid plans for the West Davis Corridor will change all that.

Roskelley joined with neighbors, farmers, birdwatchers, hunters and doctors on Saturday to rally against a proposed highway that would link Centerville to Weber County.

Organizers held a milelong protest along Glovers Lane near the turn for the bay.

WASHINGTON - As negotiations continue between the Senate and the House on a possible year-end deal to help the financially struggling U.S. Postal Service, a small band of protesters launched its second hunger strike in six months on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON - Hundreds of demonstrators swarmed the Capitol Hill office of the National Rifle Association on Monday to denounce the powerful lobby and push for new gun controls in response to Friday’s killing of 27 people, including 20 elementary school children, in Newtown, Conn.

Libyan president apologizes for death of U.S. ambassador

TRIPOLI, Libya — The American ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed when a mob of protesters and gunmen overwhelmed the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, setting fire to it in outrage over a film that ridicules Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Libya’s new president apologized Wednesday for the attack, which underlined the lawlessness plaguing a region trying to recover from months of upheaval.
