“Over the next weeks, we’ll be looking at the book of Nehemiah, with the goal of understanding how Nehemiah’s prayer life can be a model for men today — in our churches, in our homes and in our communities,” states a news release from the church. “From time to time, we also expect to be involved in service projects within our neighborhood.”

To Mormons, Heavenly Mother is the ultimate, but unknown

On Sundays, Mormon speakers may share stories of supermoms who run marathons, home-school their 10 children, help out at the homeless shelter and sing Bach cantatas -- all while leading daily prayers, scripture study and blogging about it.

Few members, however, will hear about the greatest mom of all: Heavenly Mother.

A Jewish women from the "Women of the Wall" organization, leads a prayer, at the Western Wall, the holiest site where Jews can pray in Jerusalem's old city, Friday, May 10, 2013. The "Women of the Wall" group has been holding monthly prayer services on the first day of the Hebrew month at the Western Wall in Jerusalem for more than two decades, wearing prayer shawls and performing religious rituals reserved for men under Orthodox Judaism. Accused by ultra-Orthodox leaders of violating "local custom" at the holy site, many members have been arrested. On Friday the tables were turned because of the court ruling. Police protected the women and arrested three ultra-Orthodox men for disorderly conduct, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. (AP Photo/Bernat Armangue)

Renovation crew crowns Ogden Temple with spire

OGDEN — State Sen. Stuart Reid stood Monday afternoon on the east side of Washington Boulevard marveling as a giant crane lifted a massive steeple and gently placed it atop The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Ogden Utah Temple.

Sunlight glinted off the golden spire as five construction workers secured it to the building that’s undergoing extensive renovations.

“You will be able to see it (the spire) for miles,” said Reid, R-Ogden. “It demonstrates the great progress of rebuilding the temple.”

Even at the end, it is important to truly relish living
