St. Benedict's Foundation announces annual Christmas Grove Campaign

SOUTH OGDEN -- The Board of Directors of St. Benedict's Foundation and the Sisters of St. Benedict are having their 25th Annual Christmas Grove fundraiser.

It began Nov. 1 and will run through Dec. 31.

A donation in any amount made to the foundation through the Christmas Grove provides an opportunity for participants to honor or remember someone important in their lives.

"A beautiful, personalized card will be sent to acknowledge your thoughtful and generous gift," states a news release about the effort. "A receipt will also be sent to you for your tax purposes."

Such donations assist the foundation in its continuing support of programs that benefit the needs of more than 7,000 women, children and families each year.

Money raised will be used for children who need medical care, who mourn the loss of a loved one, and/or who have been victims of abuse or neglect, states the release.

It will also be used for youth-at-risk programs that ensure children receive opportunities to live happy and healthy lives, and educational scholarships that help people become self- reliant members of the community.

The community is invited to visit the Christmas Grove surrounding the Nativity scene at Mount Benedict Monastery, 6000 S. 1075 East, in South Ogden.

The tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 7.

During the lighting ceremony, the names of those who have been honored will be read. Members of Weber State University Chamber Choir will provide Christmas carols, and light refreshments will be served.
