OGDEN -- Representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and First United Methodist Church of Ogden are seeking volunteers for a Make A Difference Day Ogden interfaith pork and beans canning project at the Ogden LDS Cannery.
Next Saturday's project, which is a joint effort between faiths, is designed to provide cans of pork and beans to the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank in west Ogden.
As part of an agreement between the food bank and the cannery, all food canned during Saturday's effort and others like it will go to the food bank to feed those in need.
The goal is for dozens of volunteers to attend.
Volunteers are needed to fill four-hour shifts at the cannery next Saturday.
People are needed during a shift from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and one from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There also are shifts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To volunteer, call First United Methodist Church of Ogden at 801-393-5662 and ask for Brenda Boren.
The Ogden LDS Cannery is at 1531 Lincoln Ave.
