New exhibit, event at LDS Church History Museum

SALT LAKE CITY—The Church History Museum, 45 N. West Temple St. in Salt Lake City, will welcome the Christmas season with a new exhibit and holiday celebration.

• Artwork and Crèche exhibit – Open now, the exhibit features Nativity, a large mural by Brian Kershisnik. This painting illustrates a host of angels surrounding Joseph, Mary, and the infant Jesus.

Other Christmas-themed artwork will be displayed, including paintings by LDS artists Elspeth Young and Walter Rane. The exhibit will also present crèches (Nativity sets) from around the world.

• Pioneer Christmas: A Time for Celebration – This hour-long interactive program for children will illustrate a 19th century Mormon pioneer Christmas through stories, games, dance, music and a visit from Father Christmas. The program will be presented twice, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 4. Seating is limited, and tickets are required. Free tickets are available at www.lds.org/events.
