7th-grader rescued from ledge of 270-foot waterfall

SEATTLE -- The 13-year-old Burien, Wash., boy who was rescued Sunday from a ledge just feet from 270-foot Wallace Falls said that he's fortunate he walked away from the ordeal with little more than cuts and scrapes on his feet.

"I feel lucky I got through it all," William Hickman said Monday from his home. "I think the rescuers should feel like heroes; they saved me. I'm lucky to be alive."

Avalanche injures snowmobiler

MONTE CRISTO-- Rescuers are trying to reach an injured snowmobiler who triggered an avalanche in the Ogden Valley.

The location is in a remote area off Curtis Creek Road outside of Monte Cristo, according to the Weber 911 Dispatch Center. A snowmobiler has reportedly suffered a broken femur in the accident.

A Lifeflight Helicopter is enroute to the scene, said dispatchers.

Rescuers dig to reach trapped in Philippines quake

MANILA, Philippines  -- Rescuers dug with picks and shovels trying to reach dozens of people trapped under houses collapsed by a strong earthquake Monday that shook a central Philippine island and set off landslides.

At least 13 people were killed and 40 are believed missing, most of them along the shore near the epicenter of the 6.9-magnitude quake that struck in a narrow strait just off Negros Island.

Missing snowshoer near Mount Rainer found alive

SEATTLE -- A 66-year-old snowshoer who was missing on Mount Rainier since Saturday was found alive Monday afternoon by a team of three rescuers, a national park spokeswoman said.

Families of rescued kids push for road changes in Logan Canyon

LOGAN -- Families of three children rescued from an overturned car in the Logan River are pushing for officials to make changes to a stretch of road they consider dangerous.

Father thankful for passers-by who saved children from icy Logan river

LOGAN -- Roger Andersen thought it was over.

The 46-year-old lost control of his car this weekend on a winding Utah canyon road and slid into an icy river, trapping his 9-year-old daughter Mia and 4-year-old son Baylor, along with their friend, 9-year-old Kenya Wildman. The car flipped upside-down and quickly became submerged.

Children rescued from icy river return home

SALT LAKE CITY -- Three children trapped in an upturned car after it skidded into the Logan River were released Monday from a hospital, two days after they were saved by several passers-by.
