SALT LAKE CITY -- Officials say a 13-year-old Provo boy rescued from the Provo River over the weekend has died.
Primary Children's Medical Center tells KSL-TV the boy died Tuesday morning. The teen was floating the river on an air mattress Saturday when he fell into the water.
Authorities were able to rescue him after about 10 minutes. He was breathing, but not conscious. The boy was transported by ambulance to Utah Valley Regional Hospital and later flown to Primary Children's.
Also Tuesday, a 2-year-old boy was in critical condition after being found floating in a Riverton canal. Police say the boy was playing with family at a park when he crawled through a fence into the water. Paramedics performed CPR and flew him to Primary Children's where he was on life support.
