After 60 years, Noodle Parlor closes its doors

OGDEN — Verla Hasler waited patiently with the hungry crowd of three dozen or so, all hoping for a seat at Uncle Leo’s Utah Noodle Parlor, and one last taste of a happy memory.

OGDEN — Throughout history, the tearing down of walls has usually been cause for celebration.

It was no different Wednesday afternoon at MacCool’s Public House Restaurant and Bar in Ogden, as owners took down a plywood wall that shielded the bar portion of their establishment from the rest of the restaurant.

MacCool’s was awarded the state’s only available club license earlier this week by the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The menu offers a variety of steaks, ribs, wood-fired pizzas, soup and salad.

Restaurant won't serve lion after protests

WICHITA, Kan. -- The lions slept Tuesday night. It was less pleasant for certain kangaroos, big bunnies and crocodiles.

A line of patrons extends out the door Thursday at Jimmy John’s sandwich shop at 145 W. 12th St., in Ogden. The national restaurant chain was celebrating its Customer Appreciation Day in Northern Utah by offering 8-inch subs for $1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. At approximately 12:30 p.m., there were at least 50 people waiting in line at this location.

BRIGHAM CITY -- Carleton Bluford has played "Romeo and Juliet" 's Tybalt at Weber State. He played Judas in an Egyptian Theater production of "Jesus Christ Superstar."

So the North Ogden actor is fairly comfortable playing characters that are not universally loved, but a recent role took the discomfort to a new level.

Bluford, 27, appeared last Friday in the national broadcast of ABC's "Primetime: What Would You Do."

Historic Logan cafi to reopen after remodel

LOGAN -- Diners will soon be eating again at a historic Logan cafi.

Logan's Herald Journal reports (http://bit.ly/z6Zc1O ) Herm's Inn is reopening after undergoing an extensive renovation.

The property is owned by businessman Jim Laub, who says his foremost goal was to preserve the historic quality of the building.

Herm's Inn was a cafi from about 1926 to 1948, when it closed.
