Historic Logan cafi to reopen after remodel

LOGAN -- Diners will soon be eating again at a historic Logan cafi.

Logan's Herald Journal reports (http://bit.ly/z6Zc1O ) Herm's Inn is reopening after undergoing an extensive renovation.

The property is owned by businessman Jim Laub, who says his foremost goal was to preserve the historic quality of the building.

Herm's Inn was a cafi from about 1926 to 1948, when it closed.

Gas station in Plain City to become a Maverik

PLAIN CITY — The Chevron station will soon become a Maverik store instead and the fast-food restaurant Boone’s will no longer exist, says a planning commissioner.

Once the gas station/store becomes a Maverik, it will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, says Planning Commissioner Blake Neil.

He said there is nothing in city ordinances that prevent it from operating at all hours.

“Maverik’s got a real good presence, but some are not too excited to lose Boone’s,” said Mayor Jay Jenkins.

Farmington council OKs beer license for Station Park eatery

FARMINGTON — City officials have approved the application for a class B beer license for a business that will be part of the city’s newest development.

The council unanimously voted Tuesday to approve a beer license application for Parkstone Wood Kitchen & Bar, which will allow the business to serve alcohol in its soon-to-be-opened restaurant in Station Park.

Layton may land Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant

LAYTON -- A popular nationwide restaurant may soon have a presence in Davis County.

One of the consent items on tonight's Layton City Council agenda is an on-premise restaurant liquor license for Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, to be located at 1201 N. Hill Field Road.

That address would put the restaurant in front of the Layton Hills Mall. However, mall officials are tight-lipped about the possibility of a new restaurant.

Ogden restaurant gets clean bill of health

OGDEN — An Ogden restaurant that came under scrutiny for possible food poisoning has received a clean bill of health from the Weber-Morgan Health Department, the owner said Thursday.

Blake Hawkins, who owns Hug-Hes Cafe, 4387 Harrison Blvd., said tests showed 20 people who reported becoming ill last month after eating food from his restaurant were infected by a norovirus, a common virus easily transmitted from person to person.

“They did find the norovirus, but they didn’t find any problems with our food,” Hawkins said of the health department.

SOUTH OGDEN -- The Weber-Morgan Health Department is investigating an incident in which a group of about 20 people became ill after eating food from a South Ogden restaurant last week.
