Maj. William Carl 'Bill' Johns

(Ret.) Maj. William Carl “Bill” Johns died Monday, March 19, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Valleyview Ward, 1433 Gwen Drive, in Pocatello, Idaho. Viewings will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Avenue, in Pocatello, and again one hour before services Saturday at the church. Another viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in Morgan, Utah, at the Walker Mortuary, 45 W. 200 North. Interment will be Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. Andrea Louise Kaiser

Andrea Louise Kaiser, 25, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel St., in Layton. A joint service with Nathan Imes will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family one hour before services. Barbecue remnants to blame for fire at ROTC building

MOSCOW, Idaho -- A Saturday evening fire at the University of Idaho Navy ROTC building was apparently caused by remnants of a barbecue held there earlier in the day.

Investigators with the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department and Idaho State Fire Marshal's office believe the fire started after inadequately extinguished briquettes were placed in landscaping near the building's main entrance, the UI announced Monday.

Stanford's Faculty Senate votes to bring back ROTC

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Stanford University's Faculty Senate voted Thursday to invite the Reserve Officer Training Corps back to the campus for the first time since the Vietnam War era, a turnaround prompted by the end of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy against gays serving openly in the military.

Utah State reopens ROTC building after threat

LOGAN -- The ROTC building at Utah State University has reopened after being closed for two days following a message threatening armed violence.
