(Ret.) Maj. William Carl “Bill” Johns died Monday, March 19, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Valleyview Ward, 1433 Gwen Drive, in Pocatello, Idaho. Viewings will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Avenue, in Pocatello, and again one hour before services Saturday at the church. Another viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in Morgan, Utah, at the Walker Mortuary, 45 W. 200 North. Interment will be Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. Barbecue remnants to blame for fire at ROTC building

MOSCOW, Idaho -- A Saturday evening fire at the University of Idaho Navy ROTC building was apparently caused by remnants of a barbecue held there earlier in the day.

Investigators with the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department and Idaho State Fire Marshal's office believe the fire started after inadequately extinguished briquettes were placed in landscaping near the building's main entrance, the UI announced Monday.
