5K, fun run set for Saturday in Mantua

MANTUA — A Souper Fun Run & 5K will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, and will send runners around the Mantua Reservoir.

Run planned to benefit Boston

LAYTON — Striders running store is organizing a run to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Washington Terrace Candy Cane run Saturday

WASHINGTON TERRACE -- The annual Candy Cane run will be held Saturday.

Starting at 8 a.m. a fire truck will tour the main roads in Washington Terrace and candy will be passed out to children on the sidewalk. Residents should be advised that the fire truck will make a considerable amount of noise for the duration of the run.

Thanksgiving run/walk breaks attendance record

OGDEN — The 27th Ogden Regional Medical Center’s annual walk/run was held Thanksgiving morning

Participants were asked to donate nonperishable food items and could choose between walking 2 miles or running 5 miles.

Salt Lake City underwear run sets world record

SALT LAKE CITY -- A protest of Utah's uptight laws that featured people running through the streets of Salt Lake City in their underwear has set a new world record.

Run, chili cookoff to benefit veterans

The George E. Wahlen Veterans Home fun run and chili cook-off is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Oct 8.

Participants can choose to run a 5K or walk a mile, which will begin at the veterans home at 1000 N. 1200 West and end in the First United Methodist Church parking lot. All proceeds go to the George E. Wahlen Veteran’s Home.

Participants may register online at active.com or by visiting www.fumcogdenut.org. After the race the church will hold its Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off at the church parking lot.

Fun run set in Ogden in memory of Lyndsay

Laps for Lyndsay will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at Weber State University’s Stewart Stadium.

The one-mile fun walk will help raise funds for the National Ability Center in Park City, which offers individuals with epilepsy opportunities to participate in recreation activities such as archery, cycling, horseback riding, rock climbing and snow and waterskiing.

The event is held in memory of 7-year-old Lyndsay Lynch, who lost her battle with epilepsy in August 2010. Her parents, Charles and Mandy Lynch, of West Haven along with her big brother, Dugan, want to carry on Lyndsay’s legacy of fighting for the innocent. To register, go to active.com. The cost is $20.

Shoebox Run needs riders and donations

SALT LAKE CITY — The eighth annual Shoebox Run will take place Sept. 17 in the mountains of Northern Utah to promote the collection of 15,000 gift-filled Operation Christmas Child showboxes that are distributed to children in need around the world.
