PLAIN CITY -- Resident Jake Weston attended a city council meeting to let council members know he wants something done about the open canal along 2200 North because he is very concerned about the safety of children walking to school along the open canal.
"This has become a bigger problem now. It is a thoroughfare leading to the school," Weston said.
"Hopefully, this council is committed to safety concerns with the success (they have had) with the walkway."
Mayor Jay Jenkins said the city had been close to piping the canal and even had the pipe ready, but Plain City Irrigation blocked the city from piping it.
Councilman Brett Ferrin said he would contact Plain City Irrigation again about the open canal.
