Plain City ponders parade candy

PLAIN CITY -- Council members are mulling over whether to allow candy to be thrown at the Fourth of July parade this year.

Councilman Bruce Higley said he saw a couple of close calls at last year's parade, with children running out into the street, that really made him concerned.

"As long as our route is, the candy is going to be gone in one block," said Councilman Brent White, who said he did not want to see the city overregulate things.

"It's obviously a safety issue, but I think we need to think about it," said White.
