Plain City to study costs of sewer, storm drain plans

PLAIN CITY — Council members approved a study for the sewer and storm drain master plan following a public hearing on the issue.

The city will spend approximately $14,000 to pay for the storm portion of the study and $16,000 for the sewer collections and treatments portion of the study.

PLAIN CITY — Council members have agreed to begin the process for an amendment to the capital facilities plan so the city can have a combined study of the sewer and the storm sewer.

“The current study we have is 15 years old on both systems,” said Councilman Brent White, adding it would benefit the city to combine the studies.

“That’s why we’re doing this study,” said Councilman Bruce Higley. “It’s so far back.”

That was the joke going around the city council meeting Thursday night when the council appointed Michael Bouwhuis as representative on the North Davis Sewer Board.

“It has been one of the responsibilities I’ve had an interest in,” said Bouwhuis. “I look forward to being very active on that board. It’s important for the residents of Layton to be represented there, since they pay fees.”

No fee increase for South Davis Sewer District users

WEST BOUNTIFUL -- South Davis Sewer District customers needn't worry about fee increases being part of 2012's $10.3 million budget, approved earlier this month.

Fees will stay the same despite an increase in the total operation and maintenance budget of 3.8 percent, said Dal Wayment, general manager for SDSD.
