Wellsville child sex abuser sentenced to 15 years in prison

WELLSVILLE — A 53-year-old Wellsville man has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

Another military member on sex abuse prevention arrested for abuse

 

WASHINGTON -- Lawmakers say they're outraged that for the second time this month a member of the armed forces assigned to help prevent sexual assaults in the military is under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct.

Air Force sex-abuse chief's trial set in assault case

WASHINGTON — Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski, the Air Force’s top officer for sexual assault prevention, had a trial set for July 18 at his first court appearance on a charge of groping a woman in a suburban Virginia parking lot.

Krusinski, dressed in civilian clothes, didn’t enter a plea to the misdemeanor charge at his arraignment Thursday in Arlington County court. His attorney, Sheryl Shane, asked Judge Richard McCue to schedule a trial for September.

WASHINGTON — Lawmakers are pushing for several changes in how the U.S. military handles cases of reported sexual assault amid fresh data showing a sharp increase in the number of reported incidents.

Swim coach's attorney: Juror was threatened

OGDEN — A juror in the Jamie Waite trial who may have been threatened in the parking lot of the courthouse is the centerpiece of a motion for a new trial for Waite.

The former Ben Lomond High School swim coach was sentenced last week to 210 days in Weber County Jail. Waite, 37, was convicted at trial in March of four counts of forcible sexual abuse for a sexual relationship with one of her 17-year-old charges on the boy’s swim team.

OGDEN — The new defense attorney for the  former Ben Lomond High School swim coach who was convicted of four counts of forcible sexual abuse for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy has filed a motion requesting  a new trial.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Utah man has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for transporting an Arizona girl to Texas with intent to have sex with her.

A free event, called Not for Sale, invites area Christian girls of all faiths who are looking for a fun time, worship, learning and shopping to a teen girl conference from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. May 3 and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at Canyon Road Assembly of God Church, 1390 Canyon Road, in Ogden. Conference in Ogden will look at issues teen girls face today

OGDEN — Area Christian girls of all faiths who are looking for a fun time, worship, learning and shopping are invited to a teen girl conference from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. May 3 and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at Canyon Road Assembly of God Church, 1390 Canyon Road, in Ogden.

The free event, called Not for Sale, will center on ways girls can keep their bodies clean and safe.

The conference is now in its second year and was attended by more than 300 girls representing 28 churches last year.

Report details sex abuse allegations against UofU swim coach

SALT LAKE CITY — A suspended University of Utah swim coach sexually abused a teenage girl years ago in Arizona and urged her to keep quiet about it, saying, “People will think I’m Chester the Molester,” according to a police report obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press.
