LAYTON -- A simple traffic stop nabbed a Layton man with a teenage girl.
Leonel Efemio Manalus, 37, of Layton, was booked in Davis County Jail on Wednesday on 13 counts of third-degree felony unlawful sexual activity with a minor, as well as a warrant for a traffic violation and misdemeanors in connection with Tuesday's traffic stop, said Layton Police Lt. Quinn Moyes.
An officer pulled Manalus over at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Cherry Lane because he noticed a headlight was out on the vehicle.
Manalus was driving on a suspended license and had a $700 warrant for his arrest out of Ogden, Moyes said.
There was also a 16-year-old girl in the car, Moyes said.
"During a conversation with the girl, (the officer) learned she has been involved in a sexual relationship with (Manalus) for about four to six weeks," Moyes said.
The girl is not related to Manalus, Moyes said.
"She stated the relationship was consensual and she was a willing participant," Moyes said.
The officer also learned Manalus had sent pornographic images to the girl's cell phone.
Deputy Davis County Attorney Rick Westmoreland said he is reviewing the case and hopes to file formal charges today in 2nd District Court in Farmington.
