Guizar pleads not guilty in Legacy shooting

FARMINGTON — The man accused of shooting at a truck on Legacy Highway and then exchanging gunfire with police Jan. 16  entered not guilty pleas to his charges.

A Sunset police officer’s car was shot at Thursday, and two windows were broken. Two rounds lodged in the vehicle’s laptop, but the officer was unhurt. Police made an arrest in the shooting. (SCOTT SCHWEBKE/Standard-Examiner)

Shooter fires at Sunset police car, man in custody

CLINTON — A man is in custody, suspected of opening fire on a Sunset police patrol car Thursday night. Arrested was Zane Openshaw, 22, of Sunset. He was booked into the Davis County Jail early Friday morning for attempted aggravated homicide and was being held without bond. 

The incident occurred around 5 p.m.

Clinton Police Chief Bill Chilson said a Sunset police officer was following a vehicle westbound on 2300 North for a possible traffic violation. Near 1000 West, the officer decided not to pull the vehicle over and turned around, heading east on 2300 North.
