Plenty of powder still on Utah slopes

Snowbird has had 631 inches of snowfall so far this season, maintains a 168-inch mid-mountain base and could remain open beyond Memorial Day this year.Snowbird stayed open through Father’s Day last year because of a good base.

Brian Head and Brighton resorts will close Sunday. Alta Ski Resort also closes Sunday but will reopen April 29-May 1. Alta has reported 652 inches of snow this season — well above its 547-inch average. The most snow ever recorded at a Utah resort was 748 inches at Alta during the 1981-1982 season.

An additional 6 to 10 inches are forecast at Alta from Monday’s storm, with 2 to 4 inches expected Monday evening and 1 to 3 inches today.
