Smith's won't sell aerial fireworks because fire danger

OGDEN — Smith’s grocery stores are not selling fireworks that fly up into the air this year, out of concern for fire safety amid multiple bans on fireworks and open burning throughout Utah.

Ted R. Barker, 51, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, of heart problems. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. In accordance with Ted’s wishes, he will be cremated. Smith’s dumps lettuce for health concerns

OGDEN — Most of the Smith’s Food and Drug stores in the Top of Utah have had to dump their wrapped iceberg lettuce because of a possible salmonella contamination.

Top of Utah's Smith's shoppers can help others for holidays

Smith's Food & Drug is offering customers a convenient way to reach out and help others during the holidays.

Through Dec. 31, the store will display a "Bringing Hope to the Table" holiday tree decorated with ornaments representing various levels of cash donations. Customers may select the level of giving and present it to a Smith's checker to add to their grocery order.

Parents raise $17K through Smith's school fundraiser

FARMINGTON -- Knowlton Elementary School parents raised $17,509 just by shopping at Smith's Food & Drug Centers.

The store chain donates $1 million a year to schools in several states, including Utah, through the "Earn and Learn Program" it started in 2000.
