Rock art is topic for Sons of Pioneers meeting in Layton

LAYTON — Native American rock art will be the topic at the Sons of Utah Pioneers meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Davis County Library Central Branch auditorium, 155 N. Wasatch Drive.

The speaker will be Laurel Casjens, former specialist with the Utah Office of Museum Services, said Stephen G. Handy, spokesman for the Snow Horse Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers.

Casjens received her PhD from Harvard University and has extensive experience in Native American culture and art, Handy said.

Public invited to Ogden SUP meeting

OGDEN -- The Ogden Pioneer Chapter Sons of the Utah Pioneers will meet at noon Monday at Comfort Suites Inn, 2250 S. 1200 West.

Dale H. Thurston died of a heart attack Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the Milton Church, 1255 N. Morgan Valley Drive, in Morgan, Utah. Friends may visit family from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Milton Cemetery. McKay-Dee history is topic for SUP show

LAYTON -- The history of McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden will be the topic at the Sons of the Utah Pioneers Snow Horse Chapter meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Davis County Library Central Branch Auditorium, 155 N. Wasatch Drive.

The Ogden Pioneer Chapter “Sons of the Utah Pioneers” is meeting at noon Monday at Comfort Suites Inn, 2250 S. 1200 West. The speaker will be David H. Jacobs, who will discuss LDS Church doctrine in early New York.

The speaker will be Mike King, a national law enforcement account manager for ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute.) King has 28 years of full-time law enforcement service, including eight years with the Ogden Police Department and eight years as chief of staff for Weber County Attorney Reed M. Richards.
