Ticket deadline today for Ogden Soroptimists luncheon

OGDEN -- The Ogden Soroptimists are inviting the community to join their members in their efforts to stop human trafficking.

The organization will hold a kickoff luncheon for a three-year campaign to raise local awareness and support action to eliminate the unlawful and inhumane underground activity.

Soroptimist International of Ogden honors three

OGDEN — Soroptimist International of Ogden, a group that supports programs providing services for women and girls, has announced its Soroptimist Award winners for this year.

This year’s winners are Kathy Bella, Shannon Dixon and Taylor Johns.

Bella, a resident of Evanston, Wyo., has received the Making a Difference for Women Award, states a press release from the group.

This program acknowledges the efforts of women who, through their personal or professional activities, are working to improve the lives of women and girls.

Soroptimists to visit rape crisis center in Ogden

OGDEN -- The international volunteer organization Soroptimists of Ogden will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Ogden Soroptimist International to meet Tuesday

Soroptimist International of Ogden will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. May 17 at YCC, 2261 Adams Ave.

Featured speaker will be Susan Carter of the Charity Anywhere Foundation. Dinner will be catered by Apple Spice Junction and will be $15. Call LeeAnn at 801-645-5172 to make a reservation by May 13.

Soroptimist International is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in the local, national and global communities. We invite all women of the community to attend.

Five earn Soroptimist International awards

OGDEN — Five local women who have overcome hardships and given untiringly to the community have been recognized by Soroptimist International of Ogden.

The awards, given in different categories, including the Violet Richardson Award, Women of Opportunity Award, Ruby Award and Spirit of Soroptimist award, were presented during the organization’s annual awards ceremony.

Aimee M. Matheson, 18, of Clearfield is this year’s Violet Richardson Award recipient. A senior at Clearfield High School, Matheson has been traveling and working the last six years in Latin American countries with her father, who works in excavation. The two of them have adopted a day care in Guatemala that will provide a safe place for children while their parents are at work.
