BOUNTIFUL — South Davis Community Hospital has received two awards for excellence in employment.

The facility was awarded the Utah Work Life 2011 Award by the Utah Division of Workforce Services. It also received a first place ranking in the large employer category placing it as a leader among Utah’s best places to work.

In addition, the facility was named employer of the year by the Davis Chamber of Commerce.

Ron Burt named to SDCH board

South Davis Community Hospital celebrates 50 years

BOUNTIFUL -- Back in the 1950s, a group of local physicians recognized a need to develop a hospital to serve south Davis County.

The county was rapidly growing and the physicians decided an acute-care hospital would provide for its needs.

The physicians teamed up with local business leaders and residents to make the dream a reality, and in 1961, South Davis Community Hospital opened its doors.

This year, the hospital celebrates 50 years of being in business.
