SUU gets largest gift in school's 115-year history

CEDAR CITY -- Southern Utah University is announcing a $4 million donation that ranks as the largest gift in the school's 115-year history.

Prep notes: Top of Utah basketball teams regroup

As 2012 dawns, the changing of the calendar offers a lot of Top of Utah basketball teams the chance to regroup for the upcoming league seasons.

While Region 11 jumped into league play in December, the rest of the area leagues used the pre-league scheduled to develop their game plan.

This week's action includes a bevy of traditional matchups, formerly region games now relegated to preseason battles for "bragging rights."

Big Sky Conference adds Southern Utah, North Dakota - will invite South Dakota soon

OGDEN -- The Big Sky Conference announced Monday that the University of North Dakota and Southern Utah University have accepted invitations to become core members of the Division I conference.

Both institutions received formal invitations from the league Friday, advancing a process that began when the presidents of the nine current Big Sky core universities approved expansion plans at their annual fall meeting on Oct. 20. Both institutions will officially join the Big Sky on July 1, 2012. However, representatives from both institutions will begin working immediately with the currently membership on scheduling, marketing, and other conference matters.
