ST. GEORGE -- Flooding in southern Utah was threatening to wash out a bridge that provides the only access for a subdivision in the town of New Harmony.
Residents of about 25 homes there were being told to either leave or plan on being stranded for a few days, said Washington County spokesman Marc Mortensen. The town 40 miles north of St. George has about 500 homes.
The bridge crosses North Ash Creek, a tributary of the Virgin River.
Houses are also starting to flood in the town of Enterprise, about 40 miles northwest of St. George.
