WSU takes opening kick and makes a first down before punting away. Colorado State drives 62 for the score, using a tricky pass-back to the quarterback 40 yards for the score. CSU 7-0. ---Wildcats move the ball to midfield before missing a field goal attempt by Jon Williams, wide right.Colorado State pushed downfield, but the Wildcats hold the Rams to a short field goal and he 10-0 lead.Weber State has driven to midifield, mostly on good short passing plays to midfield as the first quarter comes to a close. Higgins pitches to Trevyn Smith for a short TD run early in the second quarter. However, Williams misses the PAT wide left. CSU leads 10-6.--- Weber State's defense forces Colorado State to make several third-down conversions, but the Rams are equal to the task, driving the length of the field for a TD. CSU 17-6.Late in the second quarter, Bo Bolen's kick return gets the Wildcats to midfield. Weber State will try to answer CSU's TD drive with a drive of their own. WSU works down the field, and scores on a Higgins to Cody Nakamura TD strike with 4:50 to go to halftime. Mike Snoy's PAT makes it 17-13 CSU.--- The teams battle back and forth, with an apparent WSU intereption reviewed and given back to Colorado State. Weber State drives as time runs out in the second quarter. Higgins is intercepted at the 1-yard line, but a roughing the passer call gives the ball back to WSU.On the next play, Higgins and Nakamura hook up on a TD pass for the lead. Snoy's kick makes it 20-17 with 27 seconds to play.It's 20-17 at halftime.---After stopping CSU, Weber State moves the into scoring position, settling for a 47-yard field goal by Snoy.WSU forces the Rams to punt, but takes over at its own 3-yard line.--- The Rams drive down the the red zone, but WSU forces them to try a field goal, which the Rams miss.Several WSU defensive backs are playing very well. CSU is 0-for-8 in third-down conversions to this point in the game.---With 12 minutes to go, the Wildcats are grinding out the yards, with Smith and Bolen running the clock down.Just as WSU fans started thinking about more points, Higgins tosses an interception.Two big plays later, and a review on a touchdown pass (?), Colorado State scores to take the 1-point lead, 24-23.--- Weber State makes its final drive of the game, getting down to the red zone. But disaster strikes on third and goal. The center/QB exchange is muffed and CSU pounces on it for the ball game.Weber State loses a heartbreaker, 24-23.
