DALLAS -- Notes on a TV scorecard:
NBC left little question how it feels about Cowboys Stadium. In the opening segment to its telecast Sunday, the network compared the $1.15 billion building in Arlington to the Pyramids, Parthenon, Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal and Roman Colosseum.
Said Al Michaels: "What the Roman Colosseum was to the first century, is what Cowboys Stadium is to the 21st century." Wonder if Cowboys Stadium will be used as a yardstick in the 41st century?
That was a long time that the NBC cameras lingered on Jerry Jones picking his nose after the Bruce Johnson interception of Tony Romo that gave the Giants their first touchdown.
The replay on the ball bouncing off Jason Witten's heel into the hands of Giants safety Kenny Phillips was picture perfect.
Was yet another interview with NBC-ex John Madden necessary at halftime? He was great at what he did, but he's retired and had nothing really new to say. Mercifully, no Jay Leno interview followed.
Madden's replacement in NBC's analyst seat, Cris Collinsworth, was justifiably hard on Romo in the first half. And Collinsworth wasn't shy after Romo's third interception which came at the end of the third quarter.
The most unconventional camera shot of the night came from inside the giant video board.
Collinsworth was astute enough to point out the key blocks on touchdown runs by Cowboys guard Kyle Kosier. Maybe Kosier was missed more than most people realized last season.
Maybe Kosier will be to Collinsworth what Larry Allen was to Madden.
