Weber State-Portland State football game updates

Game updates from the Weber State-Portland State Big Sky Conference football game from PGE Park:

Final score: Weber State 36-29

Defensive struggle early on.

Portland State gets opening score on a field goal.

Weber State answers with a scoring drive, capped by a Trevyn Smith touchdown run.

The Vikings answer with a TD drive.

Weber State responds with a 64-yard drive, a TD pass from Cameron Higgins to Kamana Kaimikaua. Wildcats lead 14-10.

Drew Hubel and the Vikings drive in the final minutes before halftime, but Kevin Linehan and Co. stop them. PSU has a field goal waived off due to a penalty, then misses the next kick.

Weber State leads 14-10 at halftime.

Both teams have strong offenses, but the 'Cats have the more efficient attack.

The teams trade punts before Weber State goes on an 80-yard drive, aided by a personal foul against the Vikings. Higgins hits Tim Toone for a shot TD pass for the 21-10 lead.

 After Portland State drives the length of the field, WSU forces a fumble deep in WSU territory. The Wildcats put together a 96-yard drive, with Bo Bolen scoring the touchdown. WSU ahead 28-10.

But on the ensuing kickoff, Aaron Woods takes the ball 95 yards to the house. WSU now ahead 28-17.

 Then, on WSU's next offensive play, Mike Hoke's pass is intercepted and returned for a TD. The PAT fails.

25 seconds, 13 points for PSU. Weber State 28-23 as the teams head to the fourth quarter.

 Weber State missed a field goal attempt late, turning the ball over to the Vikings.

Portland State takes the lead in the final minute 29-28 on a Hubel TD pass.

But Weber State responds with a nice drive that ends with a Higgins to Toone TD pass for the lead. Two-point pass is good.

PSU had two plays after the ensuing kickoff, but Weber State knocks the ball down. Weber State wins 36-29.
