Utah State runs all over San Jose State

SLIDESHOW: Utah State vs. San Jose State football

LOGAN -- One of the things Utah State coach Gary Andersen wanted his team to accomplish this season was to have a winning record at home.

Consider it done.

Robert Turbin rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns as the Aggies beat San Jose State 24-9 in front of an announced crowd of 13,276 on a snowy Saturday afternoon at Romney Stadium.

"Obviously, a good game for us and a good win," Turbin said. "We had some ups and downs. The defense did a great job when their backs were against the wall. They made plays when we fumbled or their offense got the ball in good field position."

With the victory, USU assured itself of a winning record at home for the first time since 2003.

"That means a lot," safety Rajric Coleman said of the accomplishment. "You always want to win at home. ... You want to give your fans something to be proud of, but especially for our seniors, they've never had a winning record at home."

USU (3-7, 2-4 Western Athletic Conference) will finish no worse than 3-2 at Romney Stadium this year. The Aggies conclude the home portion of their schedule next Friday against Boise State.

With his 190-yard rushing performance, Turbin became the first Aggie to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season since Emmett White in 2001.

Quarterback Diondre Borel, passed for just 50 yards, but rushed for 73 as USU racked up 381 rushing yards on the day -- its most since 388 in 1999 against Nevada.
