MORGAN -- For two and a half minutes on Tuesday night, the Ogden Tigers had Morgan right where they wanted. The rest of the game, however, belonged to the Trojans.
With 5:30 left to play in the opening period, the Tigers found themselves up 2-0 thanks to a pair of Keri Lammert free throws. But the cold-shooting Trojans eventually got to the basket, outscoring Ogden 15-2 the rest of the quarter and ultimately capturing a 52-27 win.
Chelsea Morgan knotted the score at 2-2 and Becca Rees followed with seven straight points and the Trojans never looked back.
"We couldn't hit a shot there at the start," Morgan coach Brad Matthews said. "Not until we got our fast breaks going and got some easy baskets did we really get going."
Morgan led all scorers with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Rees and Angela Blazzard chipped in with 11 apiece.
Ogden's zone defense bothered the Trojans (2-0) for much of the first half, but the Trojans' long-range shooting in the third quarter helped them pull away.
Lammert's seven points led the Tigers (1-1), who haven't beaten Morgan in several years.
"It's hard to remember when we had a win up here," Ogden coach Phil Russell said. "(Morgan) just has people waiting in the wings to come on and kick your butt. But it was a great game for us because it gives us an idea of how well (Morgan) takes advantage of our turnovers.
"It's a good game for us to play even though we got spanked a little bit," Russell said.
