Boozer playing possessed, awarded with POW

SLIDESHOW: Utah Jazz vs San Antonio Spurs

SALT LAKE CITY -- Jazz forward Carlos Boozer put up some eyebrow-raising numbers last week and the NBA took notice.

The league on Monday announced Boozer has been named Western Conference player of the week.

In three games, Boozer averaged 26.7 points on 63 percent shooting from the field. He also averaged 13.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals, leading the Jazz to a 2-1 record against Memphis, Indiana and Minnesota.

Going into Monday's game with San Antonio, Boozer had scored at least 21 points and shot at least 55 percent from the floor in each of Utah's previous seven games.

Boozer is one of only two players in the league to average at least 20 points and 10 rebounds this season (Chris Bosh, Toronto).

Boston's Kevin Garnett was the Eastern Conference P.O.Y.

Boozer picked up where he left off on Monday, scoring 27 and adding seven rebounds and five assists to beat San Antonio.

GAME 20 Jazz 104, Spurs 101

* BEST PLAY: With 4:20 left in the third quarter, Deron Williams calls play "double C" then dashes left, then goes baseline, swooping in for a dunk over Tony Parker. The score caps an 8-0 run and puts the Jazz ahead 76-68.

* BEST LINE: In a losing effort, the Spurs' Matt Bonner comes off the bench 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting. He also grabs eight rebounds and has three assists.

* KEY STAT: The Jazz shoot 60 percent in the second half, while holding the Spurs to just 44 percent.

* NBA RESPONSE: Regarding former NBA referee Tim Donaghy's appearance Sunday night on "60 Minutes" league commissioner David Stern issued a statement later that night.

"Tim Donaghy repeated his allegations against his former colleagues, NBA referees, as well as the NBA," Stern's statement read. "Those allegations have been fully investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office and the government completed its investigation, finding that the only criminal conduct was that of Mr. Donaghy."

Donaghy has maintained the league wanted its referees to make calls that would extend playoff series and favor large-market teams.

He also maintained he and two other referees dispensed their own brand of justice against former Denver Nuggets' guard Allen Iverson in a 2007 game between the Jazz and Nuggets.

* INJURY REPORT: After Monday morning's shoot-around, Andrei Kirilenko (back) sounded guardedly optimistic about being able to play. He went home to rest, returned to the arena to warm up, but couldn't get loose. No Kyle Korver (left knee) or Ronnie Price (left big toe) for the Jazz. ... Michael Finley (sprained ankle) did not play for the Spurs.

* ETC.: The Jazz officially listed as Matt Harpring on their inactive list before the game. Harpring (knee, ankle surgeries) is still on the Jazz roster, but will not play this season. He joined Jazz play-by-play man Craig Bolerjack on FSN broadcast. ... The Jazz, American Family Insurance and the U.S. Marine Corps will host Toys for Tots for Thursday's game with Orlando and Saturday's game with the Lakers. Fans coming to either game are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for charity. ... The Bonner went 5-for-6 from the field, 2-for-3 from behind the 3-point arc and scored 12 points in the second quarter. ... The Jazz and Spurs each go over 100 points. It becomes only the second time that has happened in the last 44 meetings
