Wildcats' Mutcher, Morris named Walter Camp FCS All-Americans

Three-time selection Terrell Hudgins (Elon) headlines the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2009 Football Championship Subdivision All-America team. The team was selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Football Championship Subdivision schools.

Weber State offensive center Kyle Mutcher and defensive cornerback Josh Morris were each named to the 2009 team.

Mutcher was a four-year letterman and 36 game starter for the Wildcats at center. He earned First Team All-Big Sky Conference honors in both 2008 and 2009.

In his career, he was a vital blocking cog in helping running back Trevyn Smith become Weber State's career rushing and all-purpose yards leader. Smith ended up with over 5,000 career rushing yards. He also helped protect quarterback Cameron Higgins who threw for over 9,000 yards and 76 touchdowns while in the protection of Higgins.

Morris played three seasons for the Wildcats, and was a two-year starter, after playing one season at Northeastern Oklahoma JC. In 34 games, Morris had 126 total tackles, 72 unassisted, and tied the WSU school record for most pass deflections in a career with 26. He has seven career interceptions, 7.5 tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.

Morris earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky Conference honors as a sophomore and First Team honors his junior and senior seasons. He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2008 from The Sports Network and was named to The Sport Network's 2009 Pre-Season All-America First Team and was on the 2009 Buck Buchanan Award list as one of the top defensive players in NCAA Division I FCS.

Hudgins and quarterback Armanti Edwards (Appalachian State) are the lone repeat Walter Camp FCS All-Americans on offense. The nation's leading receiver, Hudgins caught 123 passes for 1,633 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. Edwards, who led Appalachian State to the FCS semifinals, passed for 3,644 yards while rushing for 733 more.

Joining Hudgins at wide receiver are Marc Mariani (Montana) and Matt Szczur (Villanova), two players who have led their respective teams to this Friday's FCS Championship Game. Mariani has 71 receptions for 1,301 yards and 12 touchdowns, while Szczur has totaled 1,969 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns this season.

The running backs are Deji Karim (Southern Illinois) and Pat Paschall (North Dakota State). Karim has rushed for 1,694 yards and 18 touchdowns, while Paschall has totaled 1,397 yards and 16 scores on the ground.

The 2009 Walter Camp All-America defensive squad includes 11 players who are candidates for the Buck Buchanan Award, presently annually to the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision. Among the standouts include defensive end Arthur Moats (James Madison), the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year.

At linebacker, J.C. Sherritt (Eastern Washington) leads the FCS with 170 tackles, while defensive back Mark LeGree (Appalachian State), who has 70 tackles and seven interceptions, is a repeat selection along with kick returner LeRoy Vann (Florida A&M).

In all, players from eight different conferences and 22 institutions were represented on the 2009 Walter Camp FCS All-America team. The Colonial Athletic Association (7) has the most selections, followed by the Big Sky (6) and Missouri Valley Conference (5). Four schools had multiple players selected, led by Appalachian State with three.

Villanova, Weber State and Southern Illinois each placed two players on the 2009 Walter Camp All-America team.
