Aggies humiliate Wolves

LOGAN -- Is the Aggies' top gun finally get his game in high gear?

Jared Quayle scored 18 points to lead Utah State past Western Oregon 78-42 Tuesday night.

Tai Wesley scored 14 for the Aggies (10-4). Tyler Newbold scored 11 and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds while Brady Jardine had 11 points.

The Wolves (6-3) were led by Rico Myles who had 12 points and Blair Wheadon who had 10.

The Aggies held the Wolves to 12 second-half points and outrebounded them 42-24.

Utah State jumped out to a 12-3 lead on three 3-pointers. Quayle, the former Box Elder High standout, nailed all four 3-pointers he attempted on the night.

Western Oregon battled back to within 23-19 with 10:45 to play behind Myles, who had 11 points in the first half.

Utah State hit 7-of-14 3-pointers and led 46-30 at halftime.

* NEBRASKA 94, SOUTHERN UTAH 61: At Lincoln, Neb., Nebraska took care of business Tuesday night, defeating Southern Utah 94-61. Now, coach Doc Sadler says, the Huskers are going to work to get ready for the challenge of Big 12 play.

"You're supposed to win tonight, and we did," Sadler said. "I'm going to coach them like they've never been coached. I've been pretty kid-gloves up to this point.

Nebraska (10-3) took control of the game by outscoring Southern Utah 22-8 in the last 11 minutes of the first half. The bench accounted for 18 of those points, led by Myles Holley, who finished with seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Thunderbirds (4-9) got just one point off the bench in the first half.
