PROVO -- Michael Loyd Jr. scored 17 points off the bench to help BYU defeat Division II Eastern New Mexico 95-49 on Saturday night at the Marriott Center.
Loyd scored 10 points in a 17-4 run late in the first half as the Cougars (14-1) built a 57-27 halftime lead.
Tyler Jefferson and Equs Darby each scored 10 points for Eastern New Mexico (5-6).
The Cougars won for the ninth straight time despite playing without their two leading scorers, Jimmer Fredette (strep throat) and Jackson Emery (bruised heel).
Jonathan Tavernari, starting for the first time since Dec. 2 in place of Emery, scored eight points in an early 16-4 BYU run. Tavernari finished with 15 points and moved into 19th place on BYU's all-time scoring list.
Noah Hartsock scored 12 points for BYU and added a game-high eight rebounds and six assists. Chris Miles contributed 13 points and six rebounds.
West
* TCU 70, RICE 58: At Fort Worth, Texas, Kevin Butler scored 18 points and TCU pulled away from Rice early in a victory.
Nikola Cerina added 15 points, Zvonko Buljan 12 and Xavier Roberson 11 for the Horned Frogs (7-7). Butler and Cerina were a combined 14-of-16 from the field.
Arsalan Kazemi finished with 14 points for the Owls. He was their only player in double figures.
* WYOMING 123, ADAMS STATE 71: At Laramie, Wyo., A.J. Davis scored a career-high 26 points as Wyoming ran past Adams State.
Wyoming (7-7) was sluggish early against the Division II Grizzlies (3-8). Late in the first half, the Cowboys began wearing down Adams State with an aggressive full-court press.
The Cowboys forced 30 Adams State turnovers and scored 47 points off of those miscues.
* LOUISIANA TECH 77, NEVADA 71: At Ruston, La., Jamel Guyton scored 21 points and Louisiana Tech defeated Nevada in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Guyton was 7 of 14 from the field for the Bulldogs (13-2), who shot 56 percent in the second half (14 of 25).
Louisiana Tech scored 40 points in the paint and 17 off of 17 Wolfpack (8-6) turnovers.
Olu Ashaolu, No. 4 in the WAC with 9.4 rebounds per game, had 12 boards and 14 points for the Bulldogs.
* PORTLAND STATE 94, SACRAMENTO STATE 66: At Portland, Ore., Jamie Jones scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Portland State over Sacramento State.
Dominic Waters also scored 26 points for the Vikings (7-7, 2-0 Big Sky) while Phil Nelson added 18.
Duro Bjegovic led the Hornets (6-10, 1-3) with 17 points, and John Dickson had 12.
