Vikings aim sharp, down Northridge

LAYTON -- So much for scouting reports.

On Tuesday, Viewmont missed a boatload of free throws, shooting 48.3 percent from the charity stripe.

But Friday evening, with the game on the line, the Vikings defied the odds and went 12-of-12 in the fourth quarter to sail past Northridge 42-35.

"We definitely shot some free throws between Tuesday and Friday," said Viewmont coach Jeff Emery. "We stepped up there with confidence and guts tonight and made shots down the stretch."

Viewmont held the Knights to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters and withstood an 8-0 run that closed the gap to 34-32 with 1:52 remaining.

Blake Wilkinson again led the way for Viewmont with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Konner Frey added nine counters and Eric North checked in with eight.

For Northridge, Chad Colby scored 11 points and Jordan Galbrath and Kade Petersen netted eight each.
