SLIDESHOW: Bear River vs. Ogden prep boys soccer
OGDEN -- The Tigers are making strides.
Ogden High's boys soccer team picked up a 5-1 victory over former region rival Bear River on Friday afternoon at Mount Ogden Park.
"We're getting better each game, better than we looked on Tuesday," Ogden coach Sterling Castle said. "Hopefully we can take another step forward next week against Park City.
Kel Robbins had two goals, Saul Perea added two goals and an assist and Alfonso Perea added a goal and a pair of assists for Ogden, now 1-0-1 in the pre-region portion of its schedule.
Saul Perea scored in the 19th minute, with Robbins two scores giving Ogden a 3-0 lead at the break.
Alfonso Perea scored in the 47th minute, then assisted on his younger brother Sauls final score.
Everardo Limus scored in the 60th minute on a PK for the Bears, now 1-2-0.
Leo Reyes and Clayton Booth patrolled the defensive side of the ball for the Tigers.
* ALTA 1, BONNEVILLE 0: At Sandy, the Hawks scored early then held the Lakers offense at bay the rest of the way in Bonneville's season opener.
* BOX ELDER 2, HUNTER 0: At Brigham City, Bradley Nelson scored a pair of second-half goals for the Bees (1-0-0). Austin Cobbley posted the shutout.
* LOGAN 3, MORGAN 0: At Morgan, Logan broke open a close contest with a pair of penalty kick goals.
Angel Muniz scored twice and Bridger Yates added a goal.
2-A North
* LAYTON CHRISTIAN 1, LIAHONA 0: At Layton, the Eagles opened the season with a league victory. Micah Score got the goal, while D.J. Wilson earned the shutout in goal for LCA.
* ROWLAND HALL-ST. MARK'S 1, ST. JOSEPH 0: At Ogden, the Jayhawks (0-3-0) are still searching for their first win.
